removing any of the duplicate lines ( -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.changing 1.8 to 1.9 in eclipse.ini (before running eclipse) didn't solve the problem.
changing the path value to /usr/lib/jvm/java-9-oracle/bin/java doesn't solve anything (and it doesn't seem to be a problem, because in the error message /java was already appended).the value for -vm is on a different line in eclipse.ini.startup /home/user/eclipse/jee-neon/eclipse//plugins/_1.3. launcher /home/user/eclipse/jee-neon/eclipse/eclipse jar /home/user/eclipse/jee-neon/eclipse//plugins/_1.3.
